The brief for this project was to use Graphic Design to inspire change. The topic I chose and felt strongly about was suicide. The subject of mental health is such a big issue at this current time and the number of suicides in the UK is rising. This project was inspired by a phone call I received at the start of the year from a friend, saying his friend had committed suicide. I did not know what to say or how best to support him. This lead to the creation of Halo of Hope. Halo of Hope is a support package targeted at families and individuals who have lost a loved one to suicide. The support package guides and supports the user through the 7 stages of grief after losing someone to suicide.  Halo of Hope is designed to provide more personal support and change the stigma around discussing grief, especially grief over a suicide. Designing the visual language for such a sensitive and distressing subject was a real challenge for me, however, I decided on using pastel colours because the tone of these colours felt warm and comforting, I decided on using doodles and hand written type faces to make the visual language more personal, to create the right tone for such a dark subject.
